FAQs

To help you navigate through all the photography related jargon I’ve put together a list of the most common wedding photography FAQ I receive. If you have a question that is not featured in the FAQ below, feel free to drop me an email.

It’s best to book your wedding photographer as soon as you have your wedding date confirmed. Popular photographers often get booked up in advance, especially during peak wedding seasons. Securing your photographer early gives you the best chance to lock in your preferred professional for your wedding day. If you’re looking for last minute booking, please do enquire to see if I have any availability.

Yes, I absolutely do! I love travelling for weddings, whether they’re set in a picturesque UK location or an international destination. Capturing your wedding day in unique settings is something I truly enjoy. For international or out-of-region weddings, travel and accommodation fees may apply, but I’m happy to discuss all the details and logistics to make sure everything goes smoothly for your big day.

Yes, I do offer the option of a second photographer or assistant for your wedding, depending on your needs and the size of the event.

A second photographer is particularly beneficial for larger weddings, as it allows us to capture multiple angles and moments simultaneously. An assistant is helpful for logistical support, like organising group photos, managing equipment, and ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
I’ll be happy to discuss your specific wedding plans and determine the best approach for your day, whether you’d like both, just one, or none.

Typically, you can expect to receive your wedding photos within 4-6 weeks after the big day. This allows me ample time to carefully go through all of the photos, select the best shots, and apply the professional editing to ensure they look their best.
If you’re in a rush or would like a sneak peek, I do offer sneak peek photos within a few days after the wedding- usually about 10-20 photos – so you’ll have some beautiful photos to share with family and friends while I work on the full gallery.
Once the full gallery is ready, you’ll be able to access, download, and share the photos, and I’ll also provide a high-resolution version for you to keep as a lasting memory. If you need anything sooner, just let me know, and we can discuss options

In the rare event that I’m unable to attend your wedding due to an emergency, I have a reliable network of professional photographers that I can call upon as a backup. I will do everything in my power to ensure that you’re still taken care of on your big day. If for any reason I can’t personally cover your wedding, I’ll arrange for a photographer with a style and approach similar to mine to step in, and I will coordinate the details to ensure a seamless transition. I’ll also make sure you’re comfortable with the backup photographer beforehand.
Your wedding day is incredibly important, and I’ll always make sure you’re in good hands, no matter the circumstances. You’ll never be left without coverage.

To secure your wedding date with me, we require a signed contract and a deposit. The contract outlines all the details of your wedding photography package, including coverage, pricing, and any additional services you’ve selected. Once the contract is signed, I’ll ask for a deposit, which is £250. The remaining balance is due a month before the wedding. This ensures that your date is reserved and that we’re all set for your big day.
If you need a payment plan or have any questions about the process, I’m happy to work with you to make sure everything is clear and stress-free.
Once everything is confirmed, we can begin planning the details of your day, including timelines, photo locations, and any special requests you may have.

Yes, I offer both prints and albums as part of my services! I believe that your wedding photos should be enjoyed in print and displayed for years to come, and I’m happy to guide you through the options to create something truly special.

Prints:
I offer high-quality prints in a variety of sizes, from small portraits to large wall art. You can order individual prints directly from your online gallery, and I can also help you select the best photos for framing or creating custom pieces like canvases.

Albums:
I provide beautifully crafted custom wedding albums, which can be fully designed to showcase your favourite moments from the day. These albums are available in a range of cover materials (like leather, linen, or fabric) and custom layouts, allowing you to tell the story of your day in an elegant and timeless way.
You can choose between different album sizes, and I’ll work with you to select the perfect layout, from the number of pages to the style of presentation. If you’re interested in an album, I offer design services, where I’ll create a draft for your approval before sending it off to print.
If you’re interested in prints or an album, let me know, and I can send over more details, including pricing and sample photos!

I’m well-prepared for low-light situations or challenging venues, and I have the equipment and experience to ensure that your photos turn out beautifully, even in difficult lighting conditions.
Rest assured, I’m prepared to capture every moment beautifully, no matter the lighting or venue conditions!

Yes, I can offer drone photography as an add-on service for your wedding! Aerial shots can be a stunning way to capture your venue, especially for outdoor weddings or unique locations. I use a high-quality drone to capture beautiful wide-angle views, which can add a cinematic touch to your wedding photos and provide a new perspective of your celebration.

As a professional wedding photographer, my standard package includes comprehensive full-day coverage, starting from the excitement of the bridal preparations through to the celebrations of the first dance. You’ll receive a selection of high-resolution, professionally edited photos that capture the essence of your day, delivered via an online gallery for easy sharing and downloads. I also offer additional options, such as engagement shoots, custom-designed wedding albums and extended coverage, so you can tailor the package to fit your exact needs.

As your wedding photographer, I typically provide between 500-800 photos depending on the length and coverage of the wedding day, the number of guests, and how many moments are captured. Every wedding is unique, so the final count may vary slightly. All photos will be professionally edited. This includes colour correction, exposure adjustments, and enhancing the overall mood to ensure your photos are polished and stunning. You will receive both colour and black-and-white versions of the key shots, but I will avoid heavy retouching unless it’s necessary for things like blemish removal or enhancing certain details.
You’ll get the edited photos in a high-resolution gallery, where you can download, share, and order prints. If you have specific preferences for the style or edits, feel free to let me know!

My photography style is a blend of documentary and photojournalistic. I focus on capturing authentic, candid moments with a storytelling approach, allowing the emotions of the day to shine through naturally. I love to capture those real, unscripted moments—whether it’s a tear during vows, a joyful smile on the dance floor, or quiet moments of connection between you and your loved ones.
At the same time, I pay attention to artistic details, carefully composing shots that feel timeless and elegant. I aim for light and airy photos with a touch of soft, romantic tones, but I also enjoy incorporating dramatic contrasts when the moment calls for it. My goal is to create a collection of photos that reflects not only the events of the day but also the feelings and atmosphere that made it so special.
If you have a specific vision or aesthetic in mind, I’d love to work with you to ensure your style is captured just as you imagine.

Yes, I am fully insured. I carry both liability and equipment insurance to ensure that you’re covered in case of any unforeseen events on the day of your wedding. This is important not only for peace of mind but also often a requirement for wedding venues.
If your venue requires proof of insurance, I can provide a certificate of insurance to meet their requirements. Your day is important to me, and I want to make sure everything is as smooth and worry-free as possible.

Yes, I’d be happy to share a full wedding gallery with you! Seeing a complete gallery will give you a great sense of the consistency, style, and quality of my work from start to finish.

Absolutely! I’ll be there to guide you every step of the way during your wedding photos. My approach is to make you feel comfortable and natural, so while I will direct you during the more posed shots, I also encourage moments of spontaneity and connection.
For formal portraits, I’ll help with posing to ensure you look your best – adjusting your posture, helping with hand placement, and making sure you’re relaxed. I want you to look natural and at ease, not stiff or uncomfortable. I’ll also direct your bridal party and family members for group shots, ensuring we get everything organised smoothly.
During candid moments, I’ll offer gentle guidance if needed, but my main goal is to let you enjoy your day while I capture those authentic, emotional moments without making you feel like you’re posing. I want the photos to reflect the true vibe of your day—fun, relaxed, and full of love!
If there are any specific poses or shots you’d like, feel free to let me know in advance, and I’ll make sure to incorporate those into the flow of the day!

At the moment, I specialise in wedding photography, but I’m excited to share that I am expanding into wedding videography in the near future! While I don’t currently offer full videography packages, I do have plans to incorporate video services into my offerings.
When I begin offering video, I’ll be able to capture either photographs or cinematic video footage of your day.
If you’re interested in video, feel free to reach out to me for updates on when these services will be available!

I understand that many of your guests will be excited to capture moments during your wedding, and I welcome their enthusiasm! However, I do have a few guidelines to ensure that I can do my job and capture the best photos without distractions:

During Key Moments (Ceremony & Reception Speeches):
I kindly ask that guests refrain from stepping into the aisle or blocking my view during key moments like the ceremony, first dances, and speeches. This ensures that I can capture those important moments from the best angles without interference. I also recommend asking guests to put their phones away for a few moments during these special times to maintain a more intimate atmosphere.

Guest Photography During Portraits:
Guests are welcome to take photos during the group portrait sessions and candid moments, but I ask that they allow me to direct and capture the main shots first. This helps to avoid any confusion or missed moments when people are trying to get the same shot from different angles. I can also work with you to set up specific times for guests to take photos during the portrait sessions if you’d like.

Unplugged Weddings:
If you prefer to have an “unplugged” ceremony (where guests are asked to refrain from taking photos or videos during the ceremony), I’m happy to accommodate that. An unplugged wedding can help keep the focus on the couple and create a more relaxed and intimate environment.  If you would like this, I would advise) you to communicate this with guests by including a note in your invitations or having signage at the venue.

Ultimately, my goal is to make sure your guests have a wonderful time while also ensuring that I capture every special moment for you. If you have specific concerns or requests regarding guest photography,
just let me know, and I’ll work with you to make sure it’s a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone!

Choosing Dan was the best decision for our wedding day! He brilliantly captured every emotion.
